There is a hill near our home that I frequently like to hike on. You can see across the Bay when you reach the very top, and although I sometimes tire of this same walk day in and day out, it does change quite a bit depending on the time of day, the weather, the season and how the light moves. Just yesterday, I noticed that the leaves were already starting to turn brown and fall. I’m not sure if this is because of the drought that has been plaguing California or the turn of the seasons, but it made me realize how quickly summer has come and gone. We’re starting to get the kids ready for school, and already the air in the morning feels different.

Although summer is fading, these sunflowers keep me clinging onto summer’s glow just a little bit longer…

    • Thank you, Mariska! Those little details simply amaze me! And yes, time does go by so fast — I feel like the older I get, the faster time passes :)

  1. Lovely photos, Neely. The yellow color is so powerful. I’m specially amazed by the photos of the center of the flower, they show remarkable little details.
    Kind greetings,
    Marianne

    • Thank you, Marianne! I totally agree about the detail in the center — I never noticed it before until I put the camera to my eye — creation is so amazing!

  2. Beautiful images!!!
I was thinking the same yesterday as the weather went from Hot to Cold within a couple of days here in London. Time really does fly doesn’t it?

    • Thank you so much, Pamela! Yes, time really does fly — sometimes it makes me sad how fast it goes by — I really have to savour the moments better. I was just in London for the first time this past summer — loved it there — what a great city!

  3. Beautifully done,Neely! Just love all the compositions and details of these amazing macro masterpieces. ^________^ It has inspired me to look at sunflower as many ways as I should. Happy week to you,my friend!

    • Thank you so much, Ni! The sunflower always puts a smile on my face! It is a very cheerful flower, but can also be very elegant in some ways. Thanks, again!
