This is one of my favorite photos of my husband and our youngest son. We were at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve tide pools at Moss Beach, on the way back from a trip to Santa Cruz, California. There is something about the way they were standing that I just love, and how they almost form a silhouette in the distance. It was extremely foggy that day, and the rocks were slippery from the algae and seaweed covering them. It’s hard to see, but our son actually has a terrified look on his face. I just like how my husband is peacefully holding his hand, keeping him safe.

A beautiful scene with great texture and lovely composition, Neely! Last summer when we were visiting the United States, we visited some tide pools on the Oregon Coast. We were lucky enough to be expertly guided by a girlfriend of mine who was formerly a park ranger. Such lovely scenery – reminiscent of what you’ve captured here.
Thank you so much, Tricia! How lucky to be guided around by a friend — there is so much to see and learn when walking through tide pools. I also went to some when we were living in Vancouver, Canada — so pretty! Hopefully, I’ll be able to make it out to the Oregon coast one day, too!
One of my favorite photos that you have taken…glad you posted it on your blog to share with others!
